The PawSox continue on their Carolina swing with the first of four games tonight (7:15pm) against the Charlotte Knights. The PawSox will send RHP Devern Hansack (2-6, 5.62) to the mound against former PawSox pitcher RHP Tomo Ohka (1-8, 5.46) for the Knights.
Here's a look at the game...
Pawtucket Red Sox (35-24)
The PawSox are coming off a four game split with the Durham Bulls, losing last night's finale 6-0. With the loss the PawSox have again fallen into third place in the IL North Division, two games behind division leading Scranton/Wilkes Barre and a half game behind second place Syracuse.
Hansack enters the game coming off a loss in his last outing last week against Scranton. He pitched six innings, giving up four earned runs. He did strike out a season high eight Yankees in the game.
The Red Sox called up two PawSox today. Justin Masterson will start tonight in place of the ailing Daiseke Matsuzaka. Chris Carter was also called up to the team to fill the spot vacated by the injured David Ortiz. Jeff Bailey was optioned back to Pawtucket.
Still no word on the fate of Kyle Snyder, who appeared to re-injure his right groin in last night's loss to Durham.
Charlotte Knights (21-36)
Charlotte enters the game losers of 8 of their last ten and in third place in the IL South Division, 9 1/2 games behind Durham.
Ohka makes his 12th start of the season tonight. He took the loss in his last outing last week against Rochester. He pitched seven innings, yielding three runs on five hits. This has been a season Ohka would soon forget. He began the 2008 campaign losing his first six starts.
Brad Eldred enters the series second in the International League in homers with 19 and atop the league in RBIs with 52.
