Tha PawSox bats exploded last night in Indianapolis, scoring 13 runs over a three inning period, on their way to a 17-5 trouncing of the Indians.
The PawSox pounded out 17 hits to go along with their 17 runs. Eight of the nine PawSox starters collected at least one hit. Most of the production came from Brandon Moss and Chris Carter, who were a combined 8 for 12, with two doubles, a homer, and 8 RBI's. Carter had five of the PawSox hits while Moss drove in five of the runs.
Jonathan Van Every collected 4 RBI's during his 2 for 4 game. He also belted his fourth homer of the season. George Kottaras extended his hitting streak to seven games (1 for 5) while also driving in a pair of runs. Jeff Bailey (2 for 3, HR), Dusty Brown (1 for 5), and Gil Velasquez (1 for 4) drove in the other runs for Pawtucket.
Starter Charlie Zink pitched well for the PawSox, going five innings and giving up only one earned run to pick-up his second win of the season (2-1). Dan Kolb and Jon Switzer split the final four innings of work.
Indianapolis #1 starter Brian Bullington could not figure out a way to retire the PawSox, pitching only and 1 1/3, giving up seven runs and taking the loss (0-2), his second to the PawSox this season. The Indians bullpen did not fare any better as three other hurlers combined to give up the remaining ten runs.
Offensively for the Indians, Andrew McCutchen continues to thrive on PawSox pitching, hammering another home run and driving in two. Craig Wilson also contributed with a three run homer.
The PawSox finished their road trip at 3-5 and head back to Pawtucket for a six game homestand beginning tonight (6:05pm) against the Buffalo Bisons.
