Game 101- Mud Hens vs. PawSox, July 19, 2008

The David Ortiz rehab tour enters its third act tonight as the PawSox host the Toledo Mud Hens in game three of their four game series tonight (6:05pm) at McCoy. RHP Zach Miner (0-1, 3.48) is slated to pitch for Toledo, against RHP Charlie Zink (11-2, 2.22) for Pawtucket.

I will be at the stadium and will provide pre-game Ortiz updates as soon as I can...Here are some other notes...

Toledo Mud Hens (55-45)

The Mud Hens look to rebound after dropping the first two games of the series. They were held to only two hits by PawSox starter Davern Hansack last night in Pawtucket's 6-1, 7-inning victory.

Miner makes his third start for the Mud Hens tonight. He struggled his last start, taking the loss last Sunday against Scranton. He pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up four runs on eight hits. He spent a good portion of the season with the Tigers, where he was 3-3 with a 4.23 ERA in 32 relief appearances. (One note: It would not surprise me if Miner did not start tonight. Despite all the current information which still lists Miner as the starter, he did pitch 1/3 of an inning in relief last night. More when I get it).

Pawtucket Red Sox (63-37)

Even though all eyes will be on Ortiz again tonight, the PawSox are in the midst of making history. They are 26 games above .500 for the first time ever.

Ortiz has impressed everyone so far in his two rehab starts. He is 2 for 5 with two homers and 4 RBI's. He has also walked three times.

Arguably the best pitcher in the International League goes tonight for Pawtucket. Zink is tied for the IL lead in wins at 11 and second in ERA at 2.22. Over his last 10 games Zink is 6-0 win a 2.03 ERA. He has also won his last three starts, pitching 23 innings and allowing only one earned run (0.43 ERA).

More when I get to McCoy.
