The PawSox and Syracuse Chiefs play game three of their four game series this afternoon (2:00pm) at Alliance Bank Stadium. RHP David Pauley (2-1, 1.33) toes the rubber for Pawtucket against LHP John Parrish (3-0, 2.42) for the Chiefs...
Here's a preview...
Pawtucket Red Sox (16-13)
The PawSox fell two games behind Syracuse in second and four games behind Scranton Wilkes/Barre in the IL North after their 4-3 loss last night.
Pauley earned the win his last time out, an 8-6 decision over Rochester. In that contest he pitched five innings, giving up only one earned run. In fact he has not given up any more than one earned run in all four of his Triple A starts this season.
Joe Thurston has been on a tear during this road trip...so much so that he has upped his batting average to .317, good for seventh in the league.
Syracuse Chiefs (18-11)
Parrish makes his sixth start of the season. He has won his last three decisions, pitching a total of 16 innings and surrendering only two earned runs. He has not yielded a home run yet this season.
The Chiefs' marketing department has come up with an ingenious way to get some fans to Alliance Bank Stadium. In support of the AHL Syracuse Crunch and their current playoff run, any fan who comes to a Chiefs' game with a mohawk will receive free admission, as long as the Crunch are in the playoffs. Not sure that haircut is worth the free ducat.
