Kielty Ready to Embrace Role In Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET- PawSox outfielder Bobby Kielty is in uniform at McCoy and he is ready to get his 2008 season started. Kielty spoke with reporters shortly after batting practice...

On his accepting his assignment to Pawtucket:

"This wasn't unexpected. (The Red Sox) let me know what was going on and that there was the possibility I would be going down to Triple A."

On his up and down 2007 which included a big homer in Game 4 of the World Series:

"The game is filled with ups and downs. Last year I was hitting low .200's then I get an at bat in the World Series. In a strange sense it happens both ways. It's just a matter of coming down here and trying to help Pawtucket win as many games as we can."

On the open communication between he and theRed Sox organization on his role:

"It's a numbers game. It's just a matter of time before something happens. (The Sox) have granted me anything with another team. Obviously I did that and it didn't lead to a big league job so if I come down here and perform anything can happen. (The Sox) have been really good with me in telling me things that could be going on and basically communicating with me quite a bit to let me know what to expect."

On his other offers:

"It sounded as if there would be a big league job. Any time someone is offered a big league job a minor league job is not worth taking. If there was another minor league job I was not interested in taking it."

Did the closeness of the Red Sox family impact his decision to stay?:

"The organization knows me so it's a better situation for myself. If you go to another minor league area they won't know you as well. I just think its a better situation for me."
