Game 21- Chiefs vs. PawSox, April 24, 2008

The PawSox can extend their winning streak to four if they're able to get past the Syracuse Chiefs in an afternoon contest (12:05pm) today at McCoy. The Cheifs will send LHP Bill Murphy (2-1, 2.55) to the mound. He'll be opposed by RHP Charlie Zink (2-1, 3.12) for Pawtucket.

I will not be at the game today. Here are some brief pre-game notes...

Syracuse Chiefs (13-8)

Murphy makes his third start of the 2008 season. In his last outing Murphy picked up the decision in the Chief's 9-7 victory over the Buffalo Bisons. In that game he pitched six innings, giving up three runs on five hits.

Remarkably, 11 of the Chiefs first 21 games have been played in the afternoon. And they like the sunshine, amassing a 10-1 record in day games this season. They are also undefeated (2-0) on the road after a loss.

Pawtucket Red Sox (12-8)

The PawSox enter the game a half game behind the Chiefs for second place in the IL North and 1.5 games behind Scranton Wilkes/Barre for the division lead.

Zink enters the game as the IL's Pitcher of the Week last week. Over his last three outings Zink is 2-0 with a 0.63 ERA. His loss came during his first start of the season April 5th against Indianapolis. (3IP, 4H, 5ER).

Keith Ginter is riding a hot bat for Pawtucket. He enters the game with a six game hitting streak, over which he is hitting .375 with two homers and 3 RBI.

David Pauley has been added back to the PawSox roster. He was a last minute starter for the Red Sox Tuesday in place of the ailing Josh Beckett. RP Craig Hansen has also been optioned back to Pawtucket but will not be added to the roster before Saturday.
