The PawSox look to get their bats to awaken as they play game two of a four game series with the Durham Bulls tonight (6:15pm) at McCoy. The PawSox lost a pitcher's duel in the opener last night 1-0. RHP Ben Hendrickson (2-2, 2.93) throws for Durham while RHP Devern Hansack (0-3, 8.25) pitches for Pawtucket.
Unfortunately my paying job is keeping me from the stadium today (and probably most of this home stand). Here are a few pre-game notes..
Durham Bulls (13-17)
Hendrickson has been extremely consistent for the Bulls. He makes his seventh start tonight. Over his last five outings he has a record of 2-2 but has only surrendered three earned runs in 25 innings of work (1.08 ERA)
RP Grant Balfour is on an impressive run out of the bullpen. He has not given up a run in 12 innings of work thus far this season.
Pawtucket Red Sox (17-15)
Hansack arguably had his best start of the season last time out against Syracuse. He gave up 2 runs over 4 2/3 innings in a 9-3 win against the Chiefs.
After a promising start, OF Chris Carter has hit on hard times, going only 1 of his last 17 (.059). His batting average has dropped to .265.
Meanwhile Jeff Bailey continues on a roll. He had his third straight multiple hit game last night, upping his average to .326, good enough for 7th in the International League.
Enjoy the game!
