Bailey Leads PawSox over Tides, 8-5

Jeff Bailey had a double, a homer, and drove in five runs as the PawSox erased a 4-0 deficit to beat the Norfolk Tides, 8-5 this afternoon at McCoy. It's the PawSox' fifth consecutive win. At 22-16 they are six games over .500 for the first time this season.

Bailey's five RBI's came in consecutive innings, a three run homer in the third and a two run double in the fourth.

The PawSox collected 10 hits in the game, with Bailey, George Kottaras, Sandy Madera (RBI), and Chris Carter (double, RBI) collecting two hits apiece. Jonathan Van Every also collected an RBI for Pawtucket.

PawSox starter Charlie Zink (4-2) pitched well, save for the third when he surrendered four Tide runs. He threw 6 complete innings, yielding 8 hits and striking out 5.

Lincoln Holdzkom pitched two scoreless innings in relief and newcomer Jose Vaquedano gave up one run in the ninth.

Norfolk starter Chris Waters (0-2) took the loss, throwing 4 innings, giving up 6 runs on 5 hits.

1B Oscar Salazar had two hits and drove in two for Norfolk.

The two teams wrap-up their four game set, and the PawSox 8-game home stand, tomorrow night (615pm) at McCoy. Craig Anderson pitches for Norfolk. He will be opposed by Davern Hansack for the PawSox.

Off-field moves...The Red Sox traded RHP Bryan Corey to the San Diego Padres for cash considerations or a player to be named later.. According to the ProJo, LHP Abe Alvarez was released after today's game.
