Some Other Observations From McCoy

Just a few passing thoughts from the series with the Iron Pigs...

- I’m sure after the season is over all the word plays in relation to the Iron Pigs name will be used up. The team is off to a good start in this area. In their daily press material, they use the terms “Bacon Bits” and “Pork Power” as the title of some of their team notes.

- Iron Pigs Manager Dave Huppert has a history with the McCoy Stadium. He was a member of the Rochester Red Wings in 1982 during the history making 33 inning game with the PawSox. His appearance with the Iron Pigs this week was his first return to Pawtucket since that marathon.

- It goes without saying that the Iron Pigs are struggling from the plate. Through 8 games they are only 4-42 with runners in scoring position.

- Iron Pigs IF Gookie Dawkins..what a great baseball name.
