The PawSox made it three in a row over the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs last night, registering a 2-0 shutout at McCoy.
The PawSox got their runs in the bottom of the eighth on a two run single by Keith Ginter. Chris Carter led off the inning with a base hit, extending his hit streak to seven games to open the season.
The PawSox got a solid performance from five pitchers. Charlie Zink got the start, striking out five, walking two, and giving up four hits. Sox reliever Mike Timlin threw another scoreless inning of relief in a rehab appearance, proclaiming himself ready to re-join Boston.
Craig Hansen pitched two innings to get the win. Lee Gronkiewicz closed it out in the ninth to earn his third save of 2008.
The PawSox wrap-up the series and their first homestand this afternoon at 12:05pm as David Pawley toes the mound for the PawSox. He'll be opposed by Iron Pigs LHP Brian Mazzone. I will be at the game today and will provide periodic updates.
