The PawSox have upped their lead, to 6-0, over the Syracuse Chiefs after six innings at McCoy. The added a run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double by Chris Carter.
Mike Lowell, on a rehab assignment from Boston, is 1 for 4 with two RBI. He lined to center in the fifth and fouled out to third in the sixth. He drove in his runs on a bases loaded single in the second.
Starter Chris Smith continues his mastery on the mound. He pitched six scoreless innings, giving up only one hit. Edgar Martinez is on the mound to start the seventh.
