Moss Accepts New Assignment

PawSox outfielder/first baseman Brandon Moss received most of the attention at yesterday's Media Day at McCoy. Plans are for Moss to play much of the time at first base with spot duty in right field. Here are some of Moss's thoughts fresh off his opening stint with Boston in Japan...

On his assignment back to Pawtucket:

"They (Boston) had told me that the only way I would have a shot to make that team would be because of injuries. You gotta look at the guys around you on that team. There's no room for you. I knew they had plans for me to come back down here and play first base. I am perfectly fine with that."

On his move to first base:

"With a team like Boston, the opportunity to get the most at bats there is to get the most experience at a lot of positions. It will definitely help me get there."

On his adjustment to the time difference upon his return from Japan:

"In L.A. I had a hard time with it. I was going to bed at around 8eight o'clock in the morning and getting up around one or two. We got back here yesterday around seven in the morning and I slept from seven to six at night. I'm trying to get there but it's not even close to normal time."

On the fans in Tokyo:

"They're very knowledgeable. They know who everybody is. I'm nobody and people would come up to me looking for my autograph. They're very good fans. They love their players."

On his Opening Day homer:

"I told my roommates if I get an at bat I was going to try to go deep and get my first home run in Tokyo."
