C/DH George Kottaras hit two homers and drove in five in the PawSox 8-2 win in Game Two of last night's doubleheader in Louisville over the Bats. The PawSox lost the opener of the twin bill 3-2.
Kottaras collected an RBI in the second on a ground out. Both his homers were two run shots, in the fourth and the sixth.
The PawSox received all their production from the top of the order as lead-off man Joe Thurston, number three hitter Jeff Bailey, and clean-up man Cris Carter drove in the other PawSox runs.
Starter Charlie Zink (1-1) had another impressive performance, giving up only one hit through five scoreless innings to get the win. Abe Alvarez and Lincoln Holdzkom were charged with giving up the Bats' runs . Newcomer Eric Hull closed out the game for Pawtucket.
Bats starter Tom Shearn (2-1) could not duplicate the success of his first two starts, yielding six runs on nine hits over five innings of work.
The PawSox continue their 8-game road trip tonight with the first of four games in Indianapolis against the Indians. David Pauley (1-0, 0.96 ERA) is on the mound for Pawtucket. He'll be opposed by Ty Taubenheim (0-2, 15.88 ERA)
