Game 11 & Game 12 - Bats vs PawSox, April 14, 2008

After yesterday's rain out, the PawSox will play a pair tonight (5:30pm) to wrap up their series with the Bats in Louisville.

Here are some pre-game notes:

Louisville Bats (7-3)

The Bats send Homer Bailey (1-1, 0.71 ERA) to the mound in Game One. Bailey is the Reds #1 pitching prospect. He has shined through two starts, giving up only one run over 12 2/3 innings of work. He made nine starts for the Reds last season, posting a 4-2 record with a 5.76 ERA.

In Game Two the Bats will go with RHP Tom Shearn (2-0, 0.00 ERA). Shearn enters the game with two impressive performances under his belt. Over his first two starts he has yielded only three hits over 10 scoreless innings. He started 6 games for the Reds last year, going 3-0 with a 4.76 ERA.

The Bats continue to get solid hitting from IF Jolbert Cabrera and IF/OF Jerry Hairston, each carries an eight game hitting streak into today's game. Top prospect OF Jay Bruce has a hit in seven straight.

In other Louisville news, former Red Sox LHP Scott Sauerbeck has been added to the Bats' roster. He had been on the disabled list with a sprained left ankle.

Pawtucket Red Sox (6-4)

The PawSox will send Chris Smith (0-0, 0.00 ERA) out to the mound for his second start of the season in tonight's opener. Smith filled in admirably last week for the injured Bartolo Colon, pitching four scoreless innings and striking out seven against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs at McCoy.

Knuckleballer Charlie Zink (0-1, 6.14 ERA) goes for Pawtucket in Game Two. He enters tonight's action off of a solid performance against the Iron Pigs last week. In that game Zink pitched four scoreless innings giving up only four hits while striking out five and walking two.

Following tonight's twin bill the PawSox head to Indianapolis for four games with the Indians.
